You haven’t seen much of me around the Local in awhile and there’s a very good reason for that. You see, I collapsed and was temporarily unconscious one night in January. Accounts very as to how long I was out, but it was definitely well under a minute. I was rushed to the hospital and it was discovered that my heart rate was over 120 beats per minute. According to my doctor, the heart rate of a healthy person is around 70. So, yeah, I wasn’t well by any stretch of the imagination.
After hours of waiting around, it was finally determined that my thyroid was to blame, with the extra bit of stress I experienced due to an argument being the straw that broke the camel’s back. I did have to stay overnight and the next few months have been a practically never-ending cycle of medical testing by a variety of specialists. Although they’ve since determined that my thyroid is overactive, it is still unknown as to when that became the case (and why). They’ve got me on medications and they keep changing the dosage (which in turn requires more appointments and testing). Thankfully, they’ve finally gotten better about sharing my test results and records amongst themselves. Seriously, I once kept having to get blood drawn by three different doctors on the same day!
Remember when we announced that we were going to have the old Blogspot site taken down by February? Well, that has been postponed due largely in part to this. I’m a fairly private person and I had not wanted to discuss this in public. But sadly, this was starting to effect my productivity here. I had originally wanted to complete my entries for February and link back to them in a post similar to this before doing my entries for March, but given how March is almost over, I thought it best to simply let it go and focus on this month. I declare the “Handful of Dirt” entries featuring John “Dr. Sarcofiguy” Dimes and Belle Dee to be the official GdL16 posts for Black History Month and Women in Horror Month respectively.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bedridden (although my sleep cycle is all messed up). It’s just that my schedule SUCKS. In addition to my numerous appointments and sleeping issues, I also have a job in real life to do as well in addition to catching up on my emails. So while I’ll be taking it somewhat easy for awhile post-wise, I will have some lengthier stuff available as well. Please bear with me.
